Basically it's a PS4 slim?

Essentially yeah, faster and better graphics, obviously those with a PS4 Neo will still be able to play those with a PS4.

it's just an upgrade in performance and hopefully graphics, however small the upgrade is it may still be worth it.

It's all about the 4K resolution graphics. That's the main pulling point of the new PS4

The thing is, it still won't have the grunt for true 4K from what i have read. It'll just be a little more grunt across the specs, so it can upscale to 4K and give devs a little more breathing room for making things look better.

It will be interesting to see how they name and market this. Amd what the true reason is, because god knows they don't need to. They are running away with things.

The way it comes across though is that the games themselves will run and be developed in 4K rather than being up scaled

Is anyone going to actually purchase one?
I'm in 2 minds about it and I don't think I might bother  :32:

I will most likely get one as I like the idea of a faster running smoother PS4. Plus I will have a 4K tv by the time the console comes out

I really don't think it will have the grunt to run games at native 4K, upscaling will be the best bet with better texture packs. I'm sure it will be an improvement, but i doubt night and day. Much like the final games on PS3 to games on PS4. Well, apart from Uncharted 4.

I think price could be a issue for most!

My PS4 still working fine, so I don't see any reason to replace it tbh ;)

Just reading some articles this morning.

And it seems videos will definitely be in 4K. However video games are going to be a push.
They are focusing more on reaching 60 FPS all the time.

They think the PS4 Neo would need to offer four times as much power to reach 4K for video games.

Have a read yourself - http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinions/ps4-neo-vs-ps4-ps4k

Hopefully this site is wrong and we will see games in 4K, otherwise i might stick with the original PS4

Games almost certainly won't be in native 4K, the reported component upgrade won't be enough. They would probably upscale to a bear 4K resolution I assume, and textures and other technical things would be improved and not stable. It will be interesting to see what price they put it at. The current pricing? With the 'old' PS4 dropping in price?

They can't put it any higher than what the current unit costs.

They also have the PSVR coming out in October, costing £350.

So they'll lower the starting price of the PS4 Neo in the hope that people will buy both, coming to £650 before you factor in games.

I think the 'new' console will come in at £329 myself. I'm pretty sure that is what the original came in at, or maybe that was £349?
