Just downloading it now. Seems tricky but happy to own and stick with.

It's certainly tricky, but it rewards caution in many situations. Whereas on Tiger Woods to could use a wood and ping your ball out of a bunker, on TGC you may have to play a shot out and then continue on to the pin.

Do you normally play golf game JK? I'll be on for a few rounds tomorrow during the day, but also in the evening.

I read this on another forum, its some good basic advice. It certainly helped me, i only started playing with loft and so on last night myself.

Quote

You have a 60 yard approach....

PW hits 120 yards, loft it up to 50%, you'll now hit 60 yards, but ball will spin back a good bit, so instead of lofting up to 50%, put it to around 55%, then watch the amazing backspin bring it back to the hole.

Obviously take wind and elevation into effect.

Another massive tip I picked up on forums is....

When you see distance to flag on approach shots, below that is the + and - for elevation.
For every 3 foot you add or subtract a yard.

So, for example, a par 3 with no wind. Its 130 yards, but it's downhill and -30 feet.

Your new target to the hole is 120 yards. Now obviously sometimes there will be wind so take this into effect as well.

And if it's +30 feet, then your 130 yards would now play 140 yards.

Nah not like this. I played PGA golf on Megadrive and Tiger WOOOZ on Xbox where you had the distance each club could hit and an adjusted hit meter for percentages. The idea of loft etc is new but I don't mind learning something new. It's like a puzzle. Like trying to play Countdown properly while not being distracted by Rachel Riley.

I'll be off and on all weekend. If we're both On at the same time I'll be happy to tee up.

Good stuff Fish :113:

I find it much the same as TW when using tournament mode. Driving, approach chip and punch all pretty bog standard tbh. If you've played TW on the hardest difficulty you;ll be fine on this.

Putting however is a different story. Really hard but very rewarding when you get it right.

Unlike TW, if you lay a bad shot there is no coming back from it. Take your punishment and move on

Yea, I think that's the best way to describe it in relation to TW. It's a solid game, but no looker eh!!

For me it's all about playability. The game is solid as you say but it's moe true to life than TW. Lack of courses is an issues bu with a course designer, well the world is our oyster :)

Do you know if you can design a course than let us all play it in a tourney?

Oh, yea I think you can. Hell, we could all design a course and that could be the tour.

I haven't dabbled with the course creator just yet. I think it probably looks easier than it is, to make a good course with some thought anyway.
