Mexico Drivers Briefing

Welcome to the first PSGL driver's briefing this will be used so that drivers and stewards can discuss the recent events of the previous race and discuss any concerns they may have about the upcoming track. It is important that there is a level of maturity in these discussions so that we can resolve any issues that maybe occurring. In some track the stewards may feel that there is a need for one off rules to be implemented to ensure that drivers are driving in a safe and fair manner.

Drivers Notes
  • Drivers must stay to the right of the Bollard on pit entry at all times.
  • Drivers are warned to avoid excessive weaving down the main straight and are reminded of the rule "Defending - More than one change of direction to defend a position is not permitted. If a driver has moved off the racing line while defending their position, they may move back but must ensure there is at least one car’s width between their own car and the edge of the track."
  • Any Significant corner cutting that is deemed to have gained a significant advantage will be investigated. Drivers are advised to back off and make sure the advantage is negated.
  • In the event of a SC restart drivers are recommended to use the DRS activation line as a restart point.

Any questions for this race or concerns from last race?

*Stewards decisions are final and will not be changed. This is not a place to try and appeal penalties.*

First of all, great idea.

With regards to the potential SC restart. In Canada the leader bolted off way before the final turn, do we have any guidelines on where the leader should bolt off here in Mexico or does he set the pace and make the call?

In the event of SC restart it is the leaders responsibility to ensure that the pack is bunched up as in a standard SC, My suggestion and what i believe was always the rule was to restart at the SC line which in mexico i believe is the DRS activation point (Between T15 and T16).

Not to state the obvious but isn't this all incorporated in the site rules and each race thread. Seems like more work and could potentially take the race discussion out with each leagues race thread. It's mainly common sense these points and if you aren't aware of the appropriate procedures should you really be allowed to race in the first place?

We are trialling it for the remainder of the season. We are trying to give drivers as many opportunities as possible to see and understand rules. They will then have no leg to stand on when we implement the stronger penalties.

This is completely unrelated to the race thread its somewhere stewards and drivers can discuss any questions in an open area. For too long now stewards and drivers have had little to zero contact with each other. As seen earlier in the week NPyne asked a very good question about SC restart if a race needs to be restarted and we as stewards were able to clear up the confusion. This is also a very important part of the race weekend for real F1 where many drivers question rules recently a notable case was the max verstappen rule that was implemented due to drivers concerns. I think its very important for drivers to let stewards know if theres concerns with certain rules.

My only concern would be the start with walls either side as we saw with the FE starting incident, all racers need to be vigilant of persons around them at all times, this just highlights the issue.

We need to reinforce a clean driving and racing culture and make sure it's abided by all, starting with this weekend and the rest of the season, it has slipped somewhat but we have a great network in place and everyone is banging heads to push us forward.
